Kings Camp (Timbavati Private Nature Reserve) South Africa
With its unique romantic ambience, Kings Camp invites guests to relax in the bushveld in fine colonial style. Situated in the world-famous Timbavati Private Nature Reserve (part of the greater Kruger National Park) the camp is a game-viewing haven that features elephant, lion, leopard, rhino and buffalo.
However, Kings Camp promises far more than just a good game-spotting destination - with access to 100 square kilometers of traversing, guests are also treated to a brilliant abundance of birdlife.
At Kings Camp we are dedicated to a gracious style of hospitality, combined with a flexibility that puts the comfort of our guests first - this is achieved in a manner that will never compromise the environment.
The eleven generously spaced thatched colonial suites luxuriously equipped with romantic soft cascading mosquito nets, remote controlled air-conditioning, tea and coffee facilities, Victorian ball-and-claw bath, indoor and outdoor double shower, fully stocked mini-bar and private verandah with hammock, all combine to make Kings Camp the ultimate in luxury accommodation. Dark tones of wood and thatch offset the natural colours of the bushveld.
For your comfort and convenience, other room amenities include robes, mosquito repellent, an umbrella, hairdryer and a torch. Your suite is also equipped with its own safe and telephone.
Kings Camp offers a number of very comfortable living areas for you to just sit back, relax and soak up the tranquility of the African bush. A thatched viewing deck overlooking a very active waterhole and an open plan lounge, and bar are the ideal place to see out the heat of the day, while sipping an ice cold cocktail. Alternatively, a dip in our swimming pool is maybe a better option for some.
Our spacious dining room offers stunning views of the bushveld, while enjoying the sumptuous meals offered at Kings Camp. A library full of verse and History awaits those yearning for knowledge of the African continent, filled with a collection of fictional and non-fictional books. It offers a setting of peace and tranquility, where you are welcome to browse through various books and novels. For those wanting to keep in touch with family members back home, there is a desktop with wireless internet connection available in the library 24 hours. A television is also available for those wanting to keep up to date with the latest news or sports game.
Our traditional boma is a truly memorable way to experience an evening under the African night sky. Fine cuisine and wines can be sampled while sitting near a warm crackling fire. End off the evening with a sumptuous dessert, and nightcap before bidding farewell to the simmering fire for the calling of your suite.
During the day, guests are welcome to browse through our well-stocked and air-conditioned curio shop, where you can select gifts and African memorabilia for your friends and family back home. The shop is stocked with an assortment of beautiful safari gear as well as local arts and crafts. Along with a well-equipped gym, Kings Camp offers an array of pampering treatments - a must in completing your all-round rejuvenating safari experience.
Game Viewing / Activities:
Morning and afternoon game drives with knowledgeable rangers in open vehicles. You will be served tea, coffee and biscuits on your morning game drive and drinks and canapés on your afternoon game drive. Your afternoon game drive gets back after dark, which gives you the opportunity to spot our nocturnal animals with a spotlight.
Walks through the bush take place just after breakfast, on request, and is the best way of experiencing the “finer” aspects of the bushveld. Your knowledgeable ranger will guide you through the fauna and flora of the Timbavati Nature Reserve, pointing out insects, grasses, trees and the smaller species that are all an integral part of the Timbavati Nature Reserve.
